hey folks. just looking for some feedback (as usual) on my essay proposal.
should i focus it more on JUST the history of the printing press? although i suppose, really, it is all part of the "history of the printing press". should i frame it more like that though? or is this specific and clear enough as is?
My informative essay will be on the topic of Johannes Gutenberg’s invention of the printing press and how the printing press drastically transformed and affected the role of the printed word. This essay will provide a brief history of how the “printed word” was transcribed and what it was used for. It will look at how Gutenberg built the first printing press, with his expertise as a goldsmith, using metal techniques to create movable type (Hayes, D., 2002) and what he produced. From this, the essay will explain how the printing press made the printed word more accessible for Europeans during the fifteenth century and in turn had an effect not only on literacy, but also on knowledge. In what ways did the printing press influence these changes? How exactly did it affect literacy and knowledge in the fifteenth century? These are the questions that will be explored and answered in my informative essay.
