Also had time to work on our group Annotated Bibliography assignment

Structured essay with two points:
1)Did not approve of the use of Walt Whitman
2)Did not approve of corporate practices

Emotional: When people feel threatened (2009 - when article written- time when American economy was bad), they get angry

In conclusion = Walt Whitman would not approve of this message!

Author: native canadian (Cree), motivated because he has something to say to this specific audience

Audience: mostly male, make good money, mid career (35-55), well educated
Snapshot -> suit, dress shoes, BMW, Starbucks, lives in city

Use of Description:
Author lists words, you use prior knowledge to provide a description = description that is not descriptive


Starting of Sentences With “And”
To keep the flow, so the reader continues on

Personification of the Earth
Uses words like: “nurturing”, “breath”

Last Sentence: ”Eh?”
-Create sense of community
-Sarcastic
-Rhetorical question, open ended

Thesis: Nature is a complex living that doesn’t belong to us; we need to give it back so we need take care of it
