Exam Preparation
Read: "The Most Offensive Commercial Ever Produced" and "What a Certain Visionary Once Said"
You can make notes: -Must be printed from the link given in the 'Open Discussion' -Face of page only, not on the back -Point form only! Write smallest number of words possible ->For example, if you don't know the definition of a word, write a synonym to help you -We are handing these in with our essay -You may highlight/circle/draw arrows/etc
*May bring a thesaurus and dictionary! (Paper not electronic)
During the Exam
1. Prewriting -Prepare by reading and understanding the articles -Brainstorm and organize! -Prof suggests using a semantic web -Brainstorm ideas and then brainstorm each paragraph -First brainstorm won't be that good ->Go over it and make connections, get rid of repetition and make cut outs -After you brainstorm develop a plan in point form -Develop a thesis (topic + controlling idea) -3 to 5 body paragraphs, don't plan intro and conclusion
*Make sure than plan is complete and clear* This is important in writing a good essay!*
Estimated Time: 30mins to 1hour (Probably closer to one hour)
2. Writing -Do not write two copies -Write 1 paragraph per page -Double spaced!! -Be as neat as possible -Prefers pen but you may use pencil -Use in-text citations

3. Revision -Won't have time to edit the content structure, do this in the plan -Proof read for grammar and mechanics -Check for syntax errors: Check for run ons and fragments ->Read sentences out of order to see these errors -Check for proper comma use -Check for proper spelling ->Uncertain? Look it up -Check for proper homonym use
Estimated Time: 30mins
*Plan time for 2hours but Prof will give us close to the full 3hours
