Notes from Week # 2 Class

Abstract dimension – ideas in our head
Concrete dimension – physical world around us in which we interact 

Literal
– basic understanding of elements in a text/understanding the basic meaning of that text

Interpretive
- begins when you can start to ask questions
-need a clear understanding of the literal to be able to ask the  right questions
-”possibilities of meaning”

Critical/Analytical
– reading “between the lines” to look for other meanings
-what the author was trying to portray to his audience

APA Introduction, Short Writing Task
Due: Friday September 21st, 2012 (*beginning of class! be on time)

-400 words, 2-3 paragraphs
-do not write about history
-identify APA style
-talk about main features (2-3)
