1. Active and Passive Verbs

i. In active voice, the subject will execute an action of the verb.

- The man wrote about a new topic on the forum

ii. In passive voice, the subject receives the action of the verb.

- The new topic on the forum was written by the man.

2. Verb Tense

Make sure that verb tense is consistent throughout your paper.

i. Incorrect - I advised him that he can report to my office at any time and I will be glad to help him with his essay.

ii. Correct - I advised him that he could report to to my office at any time and I would be glad to help him with his essay.

- To proofread, underline every verb and overlook for errors.

3. Subject-Verb

- Singular subjects have Singular verbs
- Plural subjects have Plural verbs.

i. Incorrect - The profits earned by these corporations is insufficient.

ii. Correct - The profits earned by these corporations are insufficient.
